Microsoft Store promo codes are hard to find because Microsoft doesn’t publish a public code you can paste at checkout. What it does publish are real discounts that apply automatically once you’re signed in and eligible: up to 10% off select Surface devices and PCs for students, teachers and parents, up to 10% off for military families, 50% off Microsoft 365 Personal for college students, and up to $500 cash back when you trade in an old device. Below are the five offers worth using, current Microsoft 365, Xbox Game Pass and Surface prices, and how to stack the store’s free perks.
I checked every offer and price on this page against Microsoft Store’s own US deals, education, military, Microsoft 365 and Xbox Game Pass pages on 14 October 2026. I’ve also removed the old coupon claims this page used to make, because none of them came from Microsoft.

Education discount: up to 10% off select Surface and PCs
Students from K-12 to college, faculty and parents get up to 10% off select physical products when signed in with a personal Microsoft account; Xbox, Office and Windows are excluded.
This is the closest thing to a store-wide Microsoft Store promo code, and it’s the one most readers qualify for.

Microsoft 365 Personal for students: $4.99/mo, 50% off
Verified college students pay half the regular $9.99 monthly price for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Copilot and 1 TB of OneDrive storage, re-verified each year.
You verify with a school email, a dated student ID or another document, and the price goes back to the regular rate if you’re no longer eligible.

Military discount: up to 10% off select products
Active, former and retired US military and their families save up to 10% on select products and services, with delivery to APO and FPO addresses.
Like the student offer, the military discount can’t be combined with other promotions, so Microsoft charges whichever price is lower.

Trade in a device: up to $500 cash back on Surface
Trade in an eligible PC, phone, tablet or console when you buy a new Surface Laptop or Surface Pro between 1 October and 29 December 2026 and get extra cash back.
Your old device has to power on, hold a charge and be mailed in within 15 days, and the final value is set by Teladvance, the partner that runs the program.

Microsoft 365 free for 1 month
Try Microsoft 365 Personal, Family or Premium free for one month, then it renews at $9.99, $12.99 or $19.99 a month unless you cancel.
The trial is the cheapest way to see if you need the paid apps at all before you commit to a yearly plan.
Microsoft Store Prices 2026: What You Pay
Here are the prices that matter most for the offers above. Microsoft 365 and Game Pass prices are fixed list prices; Surface prices move often, so treat the Surface table as a snapshot.
Microsoft 365 Plans and Office
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Microsoft 365 Personal | $9.99 | $99.99 (save $19.89) | 1 person, desktop Office apps with Copilot, 1 TB storage |
| Microsoft 365 Personal for students | $4.99 | Not listed | Same as Personal for verified college students |
| Microsoft 365 Family | $12.99 | $129.99 (save $25.89) | 1 to 6 people, 2 TB shared storage, AI for the owner only |
| Microsoft 365 Premium | $19.99 | $199.99 (save $39.89) | Everything in Family, 1 to 6 people, with much higher Copilot usage |
| Office Home 2024 | One-time | $179.99 | Classic Office apps on 1 PC or Mac, no subscription, free 5 GB OneDrive only |
Students at schools that use Microsoft 365 can also get Office 365 Education free with their school email address, which beats every paid plan above if your school is on it.

How to Use Microsoft Store Discounts in 5 Steps
- Open the Microsoft Store deals page or go straight to the education store or military discount page if you qualify.
- Sign in with your personal Microsoft account, not a work or school account. Microsoft uses this account to check student and parent eligibility.
- For Microsoft 365 at half price, use the college student pricing page and verify your student status before you buy.
- Add the product to your cart and check the price. Microsoft applies the best price you qualify for automatically, so the sale price or your discount shows up without a code.
- Planning a trade-in? Start the trade-in claim online with proof of your new Surface purchase, then mail your old device within 15 days.
If the price drops within 60 days of delivery, contact Microsoft Store Sales and Support and ask for a price adjustment. You get one adjustment per product.
Free Perks You Get on Every Microsoft Store Order
These aren’t discounts, but they’re why I’d buy a Surface or an Xbox accessory from Microsoft directly rather than from a third-party seller:
- Free 2 to 3 day shipping with no minimum order.
- Free 60-day returns on almost any physical product. Holiday purchases made from 1 October to 2 December 2026 can be returned until 31 January 2027. Microsoft limits you to 5 returns per order and excludes Surface Hub, HoloLens and the ROG Xbox Ally handhelds.
- 60-day price protection: if Microsoft lowers the price, or an eligible retailer sells the same item for less, you can ask for the difference back. For holiday purchases you can ask until 31 January 2027.
- Flexible payments on Surface and Xbox purchases, so you can spread the cost.
- Microsoft Rewards points when you search, shop or play. Game Pass Ultimate members can earn up to $100 a year in Store credit this way.
That return window is double the 30 days this page used to quote, so older guides that still say 30 days are out of date.
More Ways to Pay Less at Microsoft Store
- Buy Certified Refurbished: Microsoft’s refurbished Surface and Xbox devices cost up to 30% less than new, with at least 5% extra off until 31 December 2026.
- Check the Workplace Discount Program: employees at eligible companies save 30% on select Microsoft 365 subscriptions.
- Pay yearly for Microsoft 365: it saves $19.89 on Personal, $25.89 on Family and $39.89 on Premium compared with paying monthly.
- Share Microsoft 365 Family: at $129.99 a year for up to six people, it’s the cheapest per person if you split it.
- Wait for Black Friday: Microsoft says its 2026 Black Friday sale runs from 19 to 28 November, with discounts on Surface, Xbox consoles, games and accessories.
If Office is the main thing you’re buying, our MS Office Black Friday deals roundup covers Microsoft’s yearly sale on Office and Microsoft 365. Want a cheaper office suite instead? Compare the WPS Office coupon codes page and our ONLYOFFICE discount coupons page before you pay for a subscription.

Final Word on Microsoft Store Promo Codes
You won’t find a real Microsoft Store promo code to paste in, and you don’t need one. If you’re a student, teacher, parent or military family, sign in and let the up to 10% discount apply itself. College students should grab Microsoft 365 at $4.99 a month, and anyone upgrading a Surface this autumn should claim the trade-in cash back before 29 December.
